Eric Butorac has been a Solfire ambassador since summer of 2008 and has been on fire ever since he put on the "Flame". "Booty", currently ranked 42, has had a banner year in 2009. Playing with a variety of partners, Butorac has won Chennai (with Rajeev Ram), semi-finaled Delray Beach (with Bruno Suarez), won Sunrise (with Bobby Reynolds), and most recently had a monster win at the Estoril Open in Portugal (with Scott Lipsky).
The Minnesota native played collegiately at Gustavus Adolphus College, a Division III school, from 2001 to 2003. He dominated the field in 2003, winning both the singles and doubles national titles. After graduating, Butorac moved to France to play club tennis and earned his first ATP point on October 6, 2003.
Butorac and Scott Lipsky have been playing well together as they just semifinaled in the Netherlands and almost took down the reigning French Open winners (Norman and Moodie). Look for the Butorac and Lipsky combo to make a deep move on the grass at Wimbledon. Solfire Nation will be cheering them on every step of the way!
