Ashley Fisher has been an ambassador for Solfire since Brendan and he first met in Munich in May of 2008. 2009 has been a very exciting year for Ashley, highlighted by a run to the finals of the Sony Ericsson ATP 1000 Master’s Series Event in Key Biscayne, Florida last month. On his way to the championship match, supported by the Solfire Nation, Fisher and his fellow Aussie partner, Stephen Huss, beat the number 1 team, the Bryan Brothers! This ended the Bryan’s 13 match win streak and a chance at their third straight title in Miami. On match point, Ashley drilled an inside-out backhand right back at Bob Bryan’s chest and almost knocked him over. It was an unbelievable moment for Ashley, Stephen, and the Solfire Nation.
Fisher is currently ranked 25th in the world mens doubles rankings and could crack the top 20 very soon. By the way, Ashley was ranked #71 in the world when he signed on as a Solfire ambassador.
After many years of success as a junior in Australia, Ash (as his friends call him) had an incredible career at college tennis powerhouse TCU in Dallas, Texas. He was an All-American in 1996 and 1997. This was highlighted by a runner-up finish at the 1996 NCAA Doubles Championship with his partner, Jason Weir-Smith. Fisher turned pro in 1998 and has achieved some major tournament runs in the last decade, including the 2006 semi-final appearance at the U.S. Open with American, Tripp Phillips. His highest ranking of his career is one spot above his current ranking at number 24 in October of 2006.
Ashley is an amazing competitor, coach, player, player’s representative on the tour, and no-limit poker player (at times). We are proud to have him on the Solfire team and expect him to add many more trophies to his collection over the next couple of years. - Marital Status
